Biodiversity Conservation

Protection of natural ecological patches and regions have become very important aspect of environmental conservation in the last few decades. Biodiversity seems to be the most affected aspect in most ecosystems due to development pressures as well as mono-cultural afforestation. Biodiversity conservation and enhancement is planned through an intense study of natural areas and development patterns of the region.

1. Studying the Development Pattern of the Region – This is an essential regional environmental planning method, which provides a clear understanding of the threats faced by the biosphere in consideration. The patterns of developments needs to be channelised for best conservation and protection of the biodiversity of the region.

2. Studying the Biosphere – A detailed study of the biosphere and its various ecological zones, flora-fauna-habitat relationships etc. will provide essential database for conservation. Ecological Landscape Planning is the most effective tool for biodiversity conservation

3. Buffer zones and Political Boundaries - Implementing development controls, creating buffer zones etc. will become part of the biodiversity conservation process.

Idea Design have worked with experts from various fields on biodiversity conservation projects. Portfolio of our works on the Nilgiri Biosphere Conservation Park at Anaikatty is given below.
